ATLANTA | World Cup excitement is colliding with a familiar fan problem: resale tickets that do not always transfer cleanly when buyers need them most.

The Associated Press reported that some World Cup ticket buyers were left stranded when resale purchases failed to transfer to FIFA’s official ticketing app, with technical issues, speculative listings and marketplace rules all part of the dispute.

For fans, the lesson is practical. Official marketplaces may cost more, but they reduce uncertainty. Third-party resale platforms can create price flexibility, but they also introduce transfer risk, refund disputes and last-minute replacement problems.

CGN Sports will continue tracking fan-impact stories around the World Cup, including tickets, heat, travel, venue access and public-safety issues.

What This Means

Fans should verify ticket-transfer rules before paying, keep records of seller promises and avoid listings that depend on a seller obtaining tickets later. For major events, the lowest price is not always the safest purchase.
