INDIANAPOLIS | Central Indiana should see a cooler and breezy Wednesday, with intervals of clouds and sunshine and afternoon temperatures closer to the mid-60s rather than the mid-70s.
For Indianapolis, the daytime forecast is more of a jacket-or-light-layer day than a warm, humid afternoon. Conditions are expected to stay mainly manageable through much of the day, with breezy winds and cooler air setting the tone for commuters, schools and outdoor plans.
The better chance for unsettled weather arrives late this evening into tonight as showers and thunderstorms move through parts of the state. The National Weather Service in Indianapolis said gusty winds will be the main concern with the weakening line of storms.
Residents planning evening travel, sports practices, outdoor dining or late events should keep an eye on radar after sunset. Lightning is possible with any thunderstorm, and brief downpours or gusty winds could slow travel even if severe weather is not widespread.
Looking ahead, Thursday should remain seasonably cool to mild before temperatures gradually recover later in the week. Additional rain chances may return as the weekend approaches.
